Shades of Brown came together in March of 2010 as Austin’s only minority improv troupe. SOB’s objective is to give their audience a 25 minute mental vacation with comedy while bringing to the stage some flavor. Shades of Brown is an interesting mix that include writers, techies, teachers, scientists, college students, engineers, stand-up comedians, managers, theatre company owners, foodies and animal lovers. They are compadres old and new.
Shades of Brown has had the honor of performing at the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Houston Improv Festival, Big Sexy Weekend of Improv, Blackbox Comedy Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, and Improvaganza Hawaii Festival of Improv to showcase their improvised Novela, which is improv in the style of the Spanish soap opera. Last year at the 12th Annual Out of Bounds Comedy Festival SOB showcased LuchaProv which was an improv show about the everyday lives of the Luchador. Yes, masks were included.
